3 Signs You Need Well Pump Service In North Florida

Everyone in North Florida with a water well should know some things about the pump. The pump is a very important piece of equipment but it does work with other systems and components. When something goes wrong with a gauge, pressure tank, or leak, the well pump will be affected and so will your access to fresh water. As professionals who provide pump services in Northeast Florida, we can help you learn about 3 common problems with well pumps and what could be causing them.

Low Water Pressure

Low water pressure can indicate a well pump problem. If you turn on the faucet and there doesn’t seem to be enough water flowing out, the well pump could be going bad. No water at all can mean the pump has failed. However, there could be something else causing the low water pressure.

Sometimes the water well isn’t able to support the freshwater demand of the household. Not all wells are tapped into a deep and endless water reservoir. If this is the problem, you will need to consider installing a storage tank so it can be filled and saved for the times you use the water. If you have been using the well for some time just fine and it is now running dry, the depth of the well may need to be increased or it may need to be drilled new in another location. More often than not, it’s just the pump.

Well Pump Is Constantly Running

Well pumps will constantly cycle on and off at times. This is called short-cycling. This often happens when the air in the water pressure tank is lost. The air pressurizes the water so it will flow properly. This is very bad for the pump because it should not be running constantly.

The pressure switch could be broken, it could be stuck, or the nonreturn may not be functioning. There could also be a leak in the line somewhere. The pressure gauge itself may need to be fixed. There may be trouble with the pressure tank. Or the pressure switch may be jammed or adjusted too high. There is a lot more that could be wrong.

No matter what’s wrong, you need to get the well pump inspected and repaired before the problem causes more extensive damage.

Air Discharge From Faucets On Water Well Systems

If you turn on the faucet and it spurts air pockets out with the water, it can mean there’s a problem with the well pump or the well is running dry. It could also mean there is a problem with tank air volume control systems. Similar signs are the toilet valve banging when flushing, or when there’s a problem with just the cold water flowing right.

The excess air discharging from the faucet can also be caused by air overcharging in the water pressure tank. If this happens, air can flow out of the tank into the pipes and out through the faucets.
